Okay, once I started peeling the backing off to stick to the wall, the mural started to crease, so I had to go really slow and try and flatten the crease as I went.
Okay, so now after a long while I finally had this on the wall, but now I had bubbles and creases everywhere. Well I decide to use a credit card to try and get the bubbles and creases out, but that didn't work either. I decided if I would pull one end up and run my hand over the mural as I was sticking it back down, then the bubbles and creases would be gone. Well little did I know, while I was pulling the edge of the mural back off my wall to get the bubbles and creases out that my paint was coming off of my wall. The mural is now staying on my wall with creases bubbles and all until I get more paint to repaint my wall.
In my photo you can see a few creases, but the photo looks so much better than it does in person.
I think this mural is pretty and I was excited to put it on my wall, but now I wish I hadn't of. I know when I go to take the whole thing off, then my whole wall will be paintless.
I bought the "pathway in tree arch", two types of brick, the distressed brown horizontal wood paneling, the distressed white vertical wood paneling, the Vincent Van Gogh Irises, and the orange vines on a brick wall, all from Wall26. I was overall very impressed with all of the murals! Here are my observations:
-One of the brick options looked terrible, like cartoon bricks, but the other brick is so realistic people have to touch it to see it isn't actually brick when they come into my room. I also kept the Irises, which are gorgeous. My boyfriend was so impressed with how awesome the murals looked that he kept the "pathway in trees" and ordered another brick.
-They aren't terribly hard to put up (I put the Irises one on a bent wall, which was hard as hell and didn't turn out as well, but the others were no big deal).
-A couple of the panels do have maybe 1/5 of a millimeter of white-ish border, like they weren't cut quite thin enough. The panels are made to overlap, so if you notice this before and you don't have two consecutive panels with the white seams, you can cover the seam with the other panel. We didn't notice the seams until it was too late for that, but it really isn't very noticeable. Make SURE you overlap the panels. It’s obvious for the pictures, but took a second to figure out with the brick, so one of those panels has a row of bricks that are extra long. Our fault…we had polished off a bottle of wine
-We both rent, and I will say that when we peeled up one of the panels to reposition it, it tore a chuck of paint off my wall, sooooo that will be fun when I try to get my security deposit back. Honestly, I think if you go really slow, it won't be an issue, but it doesn't peel off super easily.
-I returned the other panels, but never received a refund. I had to open a case through Amazon, and the seller said they never got them back. Because my returnsaver labels were fedex, I was able to look up the tracking number to prove that they were in fact returned. Amazon returned my money. It sucks that I would have been out a ton of money if I hadn’t double checked, and it is frustrating that the seller claimed they didn’t receive the package when they did (what if I hadn’t had a tracking number?!), but it’s entirely possible that it was an honest mistake. In the end, I got my money back, so whatever.
The murals we kept are truly excellent. They transform a room with just 90 minutes of work, you can wipe them down, and people are seriously amazed by them. Between my boyfriend and I, we have probably referred 10 other people to Wall26 because they want a mural as soon as they see ours.
